Statement by the New Lebanese Party
In Support of U.S. Special Envoy to Lebanon, Ms. Morgan Ortagus
The New Lebanese Party expresses its full support and sincere appreciation for the firm and courageous positions voiced by U.S. Special Envoy to Lebanon, Ms. Morgan Ortagus, during her recent visit to Beirut.
Ms. Ortagus’ emphasis on the urgent need to restore full Lebanese sovereignty, and her clear stance against the continued presence of illegal weapons outside the authority of the state, directly reflects the core demands of our people—demands that our party has consistently and publicly adopted.
We do not view these positions as foreign interference, but rather as an honest call to help rescue Lebanon from collapse and lawlessness, by supporting legitimate institutions and promoting real reform.
The New Lebanese Party affirms that any political or financial aid to Lebanon must be clearly linked to genuine steps toward accountability, disarmament, and the rule of law—as a matter of justice to the Lebanese people, and a prerequisite for any sustainable recovery.
We therefore call for continued international support for the forces of change within Lebanon, especially for progressive and reformist political movements such as ours, which are working from within to establish a modern, democratic, and secular state based on citizenship and civil rights.
We commend Ms. Ortagus for her principled presence and assertive diplomacy, and we urge all international stakeholders to engage directly with sovereign, civic-minded Lebanese actors, and to resist any attempt to whitewash the current system or sustain the failed status quo.
Lebanon needs bold friends—and honest conversations.
The New Lebanese Party remains firmly at the forefront of that path.
